How it Started
My journey began in the remote village of Deorail in Assam, India (eastern region). Growing up in a place where opportunities were few and far between, I always dreamed of making a difference in science. My passion for knowledge led me to pursue a doctoral degree in Cancer Epigenetics. This path and the expertise I gained took me to the International Agency for Research on Cancer-World Health Organization (IARC-WHO) in Lyon, France, where I had the privilege of collaborating on groundbreaking international projects with researchers from different countries.
Then I joined as a molecular oncologist at the CRUK Cambridge Institute at the University of Cambridge, UK. Here, I dedicated myself to pioneering research in cancer diagnostics while also mentoring students, sharing my experiences, and inspiring the next generation of scientists.
However, my journey was not without its challenges. I faced numerous hurdles while navigating my career, often feeling isolated and uncertain. During this time, many individuals began reaching out to me on social media, seeking guidance and support. Each time I was able to help someone secure an international scholarship or fellowship, I witnessed the transformative power of mentorship firsthand.
These experiences ignited a deep sense of responsibility within me. I realized that my journey was not just about personal achievement; it was about lifting others along the way. This understanding led to the creation of the International Academy of Research and Development (IARD) an initiative for providing career guidance and support to aspiring students.
Through IARD, I aim to channel my passion and expertise into creating pathways for others, ensuring that no one has to navigate their career alone. My story is a testament to resilience, compassion, and the belief that with the right support, anyone can change their trajectory and make a meaningful impact in the world. Together, we can build a brighter future for aspiring scientists everywhere.
